Site Officiel :Memorial Weekend in the Park

Big gulp icees and sunnies in hand, I made my way to McCarren Park in Brooklyn this long weekend with a couple of friends for some leisurely shade time and people watching before the new work week began. While I was enjoying the freedom of the long weekend to explore the city after my first week at the office, I was learning more than I anticipated about the part of New York’s charm everyone had warned me about… the sticky summers. It’s only May but already summer is swinging in full force and walking around the big city in the scorching sun will wear you out by the third day in a row! After only my second busy weekend wandering around town, already, a little R&R was more than welcome. Apparently I wasn’t the only one with the bright idea as hundreds of people, particularly Brooklyn’s signature hipsters, were crowded under the trees lining the park doing just the same. Something tells me, I’ll be back there soon enough to sit back and escape the sun’s rays, if only for a couple of hours of relief. Well worth the train ride! :)
